Birmingham Slack Community Launch

We were delighted to launch the first-ever Birmingham Slack Community Event.

The Slack Community Chapters are regional social groups organised by a volunteer who engage with their local community and like-minded individuals who have a common interest for Slack, the intuitive business communication platform. The Birmingham Community Chapter Channel is free to join by anyone who is interested in how Slack is helping to shape the future of work.

In this first session, we were delighted to be joined by Yiannis Maos, CEO and Founder of Birmingham Tech, and Karl Nicholson, our CIO.

After a warm welcome and introduction, Yiannis kicked off the presentation discussing how the various App integrations available within the Slack platform helped with the planning and execution of Birmingham Tech Week, the largest attended Tech week in the UK. The amalgamation of data and Apps provided a streamlined interface where tasks and actions could be performed all in one place, reducing the reliance on email by 33%!

Karl followed Yiannis’ engaging presentation discussing how Slack has helped to enhance business processes and deliver greater customer, partner and supplier experience using Slack as an instant communication tool and reducing the reliance on siloed email. He also discussed how Slack has helped us to create an enviable work culture bringing colleagues closer together, promoting regular ‘KitKat breaks’ and enabling ‘bring your pet to work’, all whilst operating in a virtual working environment!
